Several hearings for one case involving fabricated allegation and charge by local school district (UDSD) Legal Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of wide-range of laws and seems to have a keen understanding of how the system was intended to function. He is fully aware of local, state, and federal laws and seems to actually understand them. This Judge seems highly intelligent and evenly balanced across all areas encountered. For example, I raised a Constitutional issue that was outrageous that I don't think many or any have picked up on, and he understood the importance and implications immediately. This happened repeatedly with a host of issues and laws and not once was it necessary for me to explain or elaborate on terms, rights, laws, statutes, etc. Additionally, what's rare here is that it doesn't seem to be just law/system smarts with him. He seemed to have a healthy blend of criticism and ability to toggle between what can best be described as book smarts/street smarts, which I believe led to and will continue to lead to fair rulings. This judge puts the "honor" back in the title "your honor". The system needs more judges like him, and Delco really needs more like him so I hope he sticks around and doesn't get burnt out, or drink/be forced to drink the infamous Delco punch. It says a lot about where we are as a county when litigants like me feel concern for judicial staff like him due to public display of integrity and having ethics and morals, especially in this town. Whatever this Judge is made out of should be replicated and disbursed system-wide, he single-handedly restored any faith and passion I have for this system. In other words, if you're going into his court, go prepared and correct in all that you do with pure intentions and you shouldn't have a problem. He's a good one, don't mess it up, Delco, we need him! Fairness & Impartiality: Top-tier integrity and fairness regardless of opponents. Often times, fairness is jeopardized by opponent affiliation and county/political interests, making judges lean harder towards them; especially, in Delco. However, this judge not only listened to both sides, he asked questions and actually seemed to care about the truth and fairness as much as possible, where able. Judicial Temperament: He was very patient. He took his time and asked inquisitive questions that required critical thinking in rapid real-time. He was polite and professional without seeming intimidating, like how some judges appear from an inflated ego. He seems smart enough to be entitled to that ego, but intelligent enough to recognize it isn't always useful. Communication: My case required a lot of clarification. When I asked questions and they were known, they were explained. More importantly, when they weren't known, he stated so and directed to the appropriate place to obtain the answers as apose to redirecting or ignoring it ever arose. The consistent integrity this Judge showed over multiple hearings makes me feel confident that any unanswered questions that may have remained were best served as remaining so, or with good reason and pure intent. I refuse to retract a star for this because it is not on the judge, but I feel obligated to warn others that communications from this Court are unacceptable or do not exist so do not expect to be notified of your dates and updates, and by no means do not rely on or depend on letters or communication methods. You must absolutely have other means and methods of staying in-the-know. Timeliness: He was punctual. His decisions were not instant, but that is a good thing because time is required before making decisions. He was flexible, fair, and fast with continuance requests.
