This Is Not 1975 - It Is Illegal For Couples To Come Home From The Bar And Take Turns For Going To Jail For Beating The H. Out Of Each Other. Corunna, MI - We will call a couple Jane and John Doe that have wracked up enough Domestic Violence charges against each other and they are both at the point of going to prison. Recently the man in the relationship appeared before 35th Circuit Court Judge Matthew Stewart to be sentenced on a felony charge. Because there have been so many police calls to the residence the police charged the male, apparently it was his turn, for both were bumping chests against each other. While he was in front of the Judge, Judge Stewart looks out in the gallery and there sits the female in the relationship waiting on her man to come home. Judge Stewart had enough and ordered the male not to have any contact with female again. Judge Stewart looked out in the gallery and told the woman the same thing. Judge Stewart then lectured the man in front of him that enough is enough and that someday one of them would either seriously hurt the other or someone would die. Looking around the courtroom one could tell by people's body language watching that many would bets on that the couple will be back together as soon as the male gets out of jail and that it won't take long before one or the other will be right back in front of the Judge. The question is then what? Can we as a society afford to pay $40,000 a year to incarcerate a person that fights equally with their significant other? Wouldn't it be prudent to order the pair to become MMA fighters and then they can just call it sparing, or practice? They are equal in size and strength so its not a case with this couple that one has a bigger advantage. These are serious financial questions that must be answered. So the male gets 128 days in Jail that we are paying around $50 per day for. That is roughly $6,400. Shouldn't there be papers that they can sign so its all on them and that the public can wash their hands of it? Photo: Judge Matthew Stewart sentencing someone else for being stupid.
