Legal Knowledge: Struggles to understand basic concepts Fairness & Impartiality: Hard to follow. Judge seems to almost slur words and often struggles to find the appropriate word or remember where he is in case Judicial Temperament: Immature jokes. He is on time Communication: Doesn’t seem to know what’s going on himself, except on a few select cases Timeliness: ON TIME

My case has been going on for years, and I know judges only get a short amount of time to try to understand situations that are actually really complicated. I haven’t always gotten the outcome I prayed for, and sometimes I don’t fully understand the decisions that have been made, but I still respect Judge Barber. He can be stern, but I believe that’s because he takes his job seriously, and that matters. In my experience he has never come across as biased, and I do believe he tries to be fair. What has always been frustrating for me is sitting in the courtroom and hearing people say things that I know aren’t true. I was raised to respect authority and tell the truth, so watching someone stand in front of a judge and lie is honestly shocking to me. Especially when it’s people who work in that courtroom regularly. Rowan County doesn’t even have a family court, so I know these judges are handling a lot of different cases and a heavy workload. Even with that, I do believe Judge Barber takes his role seriously. And one thing I’ve learned about him is that he definitely does not like being lied to. I still believe the truth will prevail.
