RFO- medication request Legal Knowledge: I appeared before Judge Emily J. Cole in a family law case involving custody and domestic violence concerns. During the hearing, a video was played that was highly triggering for me as a domestic violence survivor. Experiencing that in court, while the opposing party was present, felt overwhelming and humiliating. It was difficult to maintain composure under those circumstances, and I felt the impact of trauma was not fully considered. At the end of the hearing, Judge Cole stated that I “do not have good judgment,” which was especially difficult to hear given the context. I understand the court must evaluate evidence, but I believe a more trauma-informed and sensitive approach would be important in cases involving domestic violence
